Job Summary:
The Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance, fault finding, and repair of air compressors, air dryers, light towers, generators, and related equipment. Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Qualified Artisan (Red Seal – Section 13 / 26D).
- Experience as an Electrician or Refrigeration Technician will be advantageous.
- Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
- Experience in the mining industry will be advantageous.
- Experience servicing and repairing refrigerant air dryers.
- Experience with air compressors and compressor element overhauls.
- Experience working on diesel machinery and equipment.
- Knowledge and experience with PLCs.
- Valid Code EB driver’s licence.
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office and related software).
- Ability to read and interpret parts manuals and electrical wiring diagrams.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Preventative Maintenance: Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on air compressors, air dryers, generators, and light towers. Ensure all equipment operates according to manufacturer specifications. Complete maintenance inspections and service reports.
- Repairs and Fault Finding: Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults. Troubleshoot breakdowns and identify root causes of equipment failures. Carry out repairs efficiently to minimise customer downtime.
- Technical Service: Service compressors, refrigerant air dryers, generators, and associated equipment. Perform compressor element overhauls where required. Repair and maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and PLC systems.
- Customer Support: Attend breakdowns and emergency call-outs. Provide technical support and recommendations to customers. Maintain professional relationships while delivering quality service.
- Administration: Complete service reports and maintenance documentation. Record parts used and recommend replacement components. Maintain accurate job records and service histories.
- Health and Safety: Comply with company health and safety procedures. Ensure safe working practices at customer sites. Wear and maintain the required PPE. Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
